Pet Sitter Agreement

A personal contract between Pet Lounge and you

Welcome to the Pet Lounge family. Before you get started, please read this Agreement carefully. It sets out the terms of our working relationship - your rights, your responsibilities, and how we will work together to give every pet the care they deserve.

“Pet Lounge”, “we”, “us”, or “the Company”

Pet Lounge is a premium pet care marketplace platform that connects verified, approved pet sitters with pet owners across Sweden and, in time, across Europe. We are not a kennel. We are a community of animal lovers who believe that every pet deserves to feel at home - even when their family is away.

By joining Pet Lounge as a Verified Sitter, you are becoming part of something bigger than a side job. You are part of a brand that stands for warmth, quality, and genuine love for animals. We take that seriously - and we hope you do too.

3. Services You Will Provide

As a Pet Lounge Verified Sitter, you agree to offer one or more of the following services through the Platform

  • Day Care (Dagpassning) - daytime care at your home
  • Overnight Boarding (Övernattning) - 24-hour care; the pet stays at your home
  • Home Visit (Hembesök) - 60-minute visits at the pet owner's home
  • Dog Walking (Hundrastning) - professional walks, individual or group

You set your own availability and schedule through the Platform. You are free to accept or decline individual Booking requests.

4. Your Status: Independent Service Providers

You are an independent service provider, not an employee of Pet Lounge. This means:

  • Pet Lounge does not withhold taxes or handle VAT for sitters. Each sitter must ensure they are compliant with Swedish tax laws regarding their earnings.
  • You are responsible for your own taxes, VAT (if applicable), and social security contributions in Sweden.
  • You are not entitled to sick pay, holiday pay, pension contributions, or any other employment benefits from Pet Lounge.
  • You are free to work for other platforms or clients, as long as you do not solicit Pet Lounge customers outside our Platform.

Pet Lounge strongly recommends that you consult a Swedish tax advisor regarding your obligations.

5. How You Get Paid

5.1 Payment Flow

All payments are securely handled through Stripe Connect.

When a Pet Owner books your service:

  • The Pet Owner pays the full amount to Pet Lounge via Stripe.
  • Pet Lounge deducts a 10% platform fee from your listed service price.
  • The remaining amount - your Payout - is transferred directly to your bank account via your connected Stripe account after the Booking is marked as completed.Payouts are typically processed within 3–7 business days after the Booking completion, depending on your bank's processing times.

5.3 Taxes

You are solely responsible for declaring and paying all taxes on your earnings. Pet Lounge does not withhold taxes on your behalf. If you are registered for F-skatt or FA-skatt in Sweden, please ensure your Stripe account reflects your correct tax status.

6. Your Commitments to Pet Lounge

By accepting this Agreement, you commit to the following:

6.1 Care Standards

  • Treat every animal in your care with kindness, patience, and love - as if they were your own.
  • Follow all care instructions provided by the Pet Owner in full.
  • Never leave a pet unattended for unreasonable periods (more than 3 hours) during a Booking.
  • Keep dogs on a lead in public at all times.
  • Always keep your home clean, safe, and welcoming for the animals in your care.
  • Never use physical punishment or coercive methods on any animal, under any circumstances.

6.2 Communication

  • Respond to Booking requests within 24 hours.
  • Send the Pet Owner photo updates during the booking.
  • Conduct all Booking-related communication through the Pet Lounge Platform only.
  • Contact Pet Lounge immediately at chamodi@petlounge.se in the event of any emergency or incident.

6.3 Professionalism

  • Represent Pet Lounge with integrity, warmth, and professionalism at all times.
  • Attend monthly Pet Lounge community meetups where possible.
  • Participate in any training updates or refreshers introduced by Pet Lounge.
  • Consent to periodic quality spot checks and annual home re-inspections by Pet Lounge.

6.4 Things You Must Not Do

  • Accept payment from Pet Owners outside the Platform for services arranged through Pet Lounge.
  • Solicit Pet Owners to book or pay outside the Platform.
  • Subcontract a Booking to another person without Pet Lounge's prior written approval.
  • Accept a Booking you are not qualified, equipped, or comfortable to fulfill.
  • Misuse or share any personal data of Pet Owners or their pets.

7. Cancellations

We understand that emergencies happen. However, cancellations - especially last-minute ones - cause real distress to Pet Owners and their pets. Please treat your confirmed Bookings as firm commitments.

8. Pet Lounge Protection Fund

The Protection Fund is NOT insurance. It is a discretionary welfare fund maintained by Pet Lounge. It does not replace personal liability insurance and does not guarantee any payment.

Pet Lounge maintains a dedicated Protection Fund - funded by 1% of monthly platform profits - to help cover veterinary costs in the rare event that a pet is accidentally injured during a confirmed Booking. As a Sitter, you and your Pet Owners benefit from this fund.

The Fund may contribute towards emergency veterinary treatment, diagnostic costs, and medications arising from an accidental injury during a Platform-booked Booking. It does not cover illness, pre-existing conditions, sitter negligence, or incidents outside confirmed Booking dates.

Full terms are set out in the Pet Lounge Protection Fund Policy at petlounge.se. As a Sitter, you agree to cooperate fully with any Protection Fund claim investigation, including providing accurate accounts of incidents and any supporting evidence.

9. Non-Solicitation

During the term of this Agreement and for 18 months after it ends, you agree not to:

  • Solicit any Pet Owner you have met through the Pet Lounge Platform to book services outside the Platform.
  • Accept direct payment from Pet Owners for services that were initiated or discussed through Pet Lounge.
  • Refer Pet Owners to competing platforms.

Breach of this clause is a serious violation and may result in legal action and a claim for damages.

10. Using the Pet Lounge Brand

Once approved, you may use the title “Pet Lounge Verified Sitter” in connection with your profile and services on the Platform. You may not use Pet Lounge's name, logo, or branding in any other commercial context without our prior written permission. This license ends immediately if your account is suspended or terminated.

11. Data Protection

You agree to handle all personal data of Pet Owners and their pets with strict confidentiality, in accordance with the GDPR and Swedish law. You must use Pet Owner data solely to deliver the booked service and must not share, sell, or store it beyond what is necessary. Please read Pet Lounge's full Privacy Policy at petlounge.se/privacy.

12. Suspension and Termination

12.1 You may leave at any time

You can end this Agreement at any time by notifying to info@petlounge.se. All active Bookings must be fulfilled or transferred before your account is closed.

12.2 We may suspend or remove you if:

  • You breach any material term of this Agreement or the Sitter Terms & Conditions.
  • You mistreat or neglect any animal in your care.
  • You engage in fraudulent activity or misrepresentation.
  • You receive serious or repeated complaints from Pet Owners.
  • You fail Pet Lounge's quality standards following a review or spot check.
  • You arrange off-platform payments or solicitations.
  • Your conduct is incompatible with the Pet Lounge brand and values.

In serious cases (animal abuse, fraud), termination will be immediate and without notice.

13. Governing Law

This Agreement is governed by the laws of Sweden. Any disputes that cannot be resolved amicably will be referred to the Swedish courts.

14. Full Terms & Conditions

This Agreement is a summary of your key rights and responsibilities. It must be read together with the Pet Lounge Sitter Terms & Conditions (the full legal document), which is incorporated by reference and forms part of this Agreement. The full Terms & Conditions are available at petlounge.se and have been provided to you separately.

In the event of any conflict between this Agreement and the full Terms & Conditions, the Terms & Conditions shall prevail.

15. Declaration and Signature

By signing below, you confirm that:

  • I have read and understood this Pet Sitter Agreement in full.
  • I have read and understood the Pet Lounge Sitter Terms & Conditions.
  • I agree to be legally bound by both documents.
  • All information I have provided during my application is truthful and accurate.
  • I understand I am an independent contractor, not an employee of Pet Lounge.
  • I understand the Protection Fund is not insurance and does not guarantee payment.
  • I commit to treating every pet in my care with the love and respect they deserve.
